Spencer Lacrosse Club Past Players

Ex-senior squad players of the Spencer Lacrosse Club (plus a few from the old Kenton days). Some may return, but none will be forgotten. If you are reading this and are thinking "where's my name?" get in touch!

Justin ALLENSWORTH Attack

US flag 2004-05: This guy was seriously fast! No longer working in the UK.

John ARMSTRONG Defense

US flag 2003: Good defense player who was working in London in 2003.

Ian BALLANTINE Midfield

UK flag 2008-10: Ian lives for lacrosse and got involved with all aspects of the game. In 2010 he was one of the co-founders of the Epsom Lacrosse Club..



Joe BAYERN Attack

US flag 2004-06: Joe (and his family of young lacrosse players) brought a wealth of experience into the Spencer attack.




Paul BOWN Defense

UK flag Late 1990's-2003: Paul had momentum on his side and played for both Kenton and Spencer. Moved to the West Country and played for Bath.



James BOWYER Midfield

UK flag 2002-04: Joined Spencer after picking up the game at Bath University.

Danny BUCKLAND Attack

UK flag 2007-10: Danny brought years of experience to the Spencer 3rd team over his three seasons with the club. In 2010 he joined the newly formed club of Epsom.



Jon CALLUZZO Midfield

US flag 2004-05: Played while studying in London. Now back in the States.

Paul CALLUZZO Goalkeeper

US flag 2004: Played while studying in London. Now back in the States.





Jesse CHURCHWARD Defense

US flag 2006-07: Spencer's LDO for the season. Without doubt the best longstick player we've seen in years!




Dustin COOMBE Attack

US flag 2007-09: Spencer's LDO for the 2007/08 season. A nimble athlete who joined the Walcountian Blues for the 2009/10 season.



Mike COOKE Midfield

UK flag 1990's-2000: Cookie was at the heart of the Kenton club and, with Pete Compton from Beckenham, was responsible for the creation of the Spencer Club in the year 2000.



Chris ELIA Attack

US flag 2008-09: Spencer's LDO for the 2008/09 season. Was he right or left handed? You could not tell as each side unleased hell on the opposition goalie. A top bloke and a top lacrosse player.


Bobby ELIAS Attack

US flag 2004: Bobby loved occupying the crease and drinking beer. Played while studying in London. Now back in the States.




Jamie FOX Attack

UK flag 2003-04: Natural attack player who knew the route to goal.

Jon JENNINGS Midfield

UK flag 2004-05
Sadly Jon passed away in January 2005 and will be missed by all who knew him.



Jon JESSOP Attack

US flag 1990's-2003: JJ was key to the successful Kenton team of the late 1990's. Played for Hampstead during the 2004/05 season. Now back in the States.



Keith HOLLOWAY Midfield

Canada flag 2005: Spencer's LDO for the first half of the 2005/06 season. Alas he needed to go back to Canada just as he was hitting is prime with the senior team and with his coaching of the juniors and in the local schools.


Greg LAZARUS Attack

USA flag 2009-10: Spencer's LDO for the 2009/10 season. With German family ties he was able to play for Germany in the 2010 World Championships and finished the tournament as their top scorer.

Keith ROBERTSON Midfield

Canada flag 2003-05: Keith now plays his lacrosse in Glasgow, Scotland.





Ben THOMPSON Midfield

UK flag 2007-10: Benji Thompson was forced into early retirement at the end of the 2009/10 season with a hand injury. He was a reliable and consistant player in the heart of the Spencer 1st team for three seasons.



Peter SAYIA Attack

US flag 2005-08: Peter made a significant contribution to Spencer. A change in career in 2008 means he has relocated back to his native New York.



Hajime SHIMAKAWA Attack

Japan flag 2008-09: In London as a student a key was part of our dynamite 1st team attacking trio for the 2008/09 season.




Matthias SCHMIDT Midfield

Germany flag 2003-04: Now living (and playing) back in Germany.


Jeff SINCLAIR Defense

Canada flag 2004-05: Top drawer defense player. Now playing for Hampstead but we've since forgiven him.




Will STERN Attack

US flag 2005-06: A mean and lean lefty equally at home in attack or midfield. Played for Spencer while working in London. Alas his work took him back to the US just before the start of the 2006/07 season.


Toby THOMPSON Midfield

UK flag 2003-07: Joined Spencer as a junior and progressed into the senior team. Went to Loughborough University in 2007 to study (maybe) and be part of their lacrosse team.



Gareth TURNER Attack

Canada flag 2004-05: Played for Spencer while working for an investment bank in the city.

Stuart WRIGHT Midfield/Defense

UK flag 2004-05: Worked in London for a while before moving back up to Leeds.




Louis VILLARD Attack

US flag 2007-10: Wine critic Louis Villard was fundamental in helping the 2nd team develop into the promotion winning team at the end of the 2009/10 season. He's now back in California (drinking) tasting wine.
